ABOUT

 Born in Southern California.

 Left-handed.

Old studio is literally a shack that I built myself out of pallets and parts from old sheds.

New studio is way better and located about 50 feet from the old studio.

If you want to see the old studio, you can watch this short documentary that my friend Robbie made for the Phoenix New Times.

 There is no number six.

I don’t like having my picture taken or being on video. There is however one picture of me that I don’t mind too much. It’s this Google Street View capture of me standing in my ex-girlfriend’s front yard. It’s about three years old, but I haven’t changed. I don’t really change.

I play the flute. I started out playing the clarinet when I was ten. I switched over to the flute in my twenties because somebody said, “Here’s a flute”. I’ll play pretty much any woodwind I’m given. My favorites though are the standard flute and the low D whistle. I know a lot of old Irish folk songs, but I don’t really give a shit about any of them. Irish folk music is not my favorite genre.

I was in a band called CSOTYS for fifteen years. We never really broke up, so maybe I’m still in it. We were basically a radio band, not in the sense that we made songs that were played on the radio, but in that we built instruments out of old radios and made sounds with them until faint hints of songs began to form. We mostly did this in cemeteries in the middle of the night without an audience, because we were idiots. We still have a couple songs on Youtube floating around. You won’t like us.

I’ve been hiding my paintings around the greater Phoenix area for decades. If I’m known for anything, it’s probably that. I haven’t been doing it as much over the past few years. I still do the annual Valentine’s Day Hunt.

I draw posters for people who have shows they want to promote. If you’ve got a show coming up and you want me to draw one, let me know. I draw them in pen on paper and then make 8.5″ x 11″ copies in a Xerox machine. This is the only way I’ll ever do it. I believe 11″ x 17″, full-color posters are an abomination and a waste of money.

I’m not a promoter, but I’ve spent a lot of time and energy promoting shows, so people say things to me, like, “You’re a promoter”.

I don’t have a license. I never learned how to drive a car. They run over dogs and ducks, and that’s not cool. I ride a bicycle everywhere, even to places where people say, “You won’t be able to get there on a bike.” Watch me.
